INFOThe Ambassadors is a select group of 42 singer / dancers in grades 11-12 accompanied by the members of the Ambassador Brass. These talented students are representative of the high-achieving student population of Carmel High School. From athletes to leaders in student government, clubs, and academics, the members of this busy singing group bring with them a diversity in backgrounds and interests.
Founded in 1972 by Mr. David Ratts and conducted by Mr. Ronald D. Hellems from 1976-99, The Ambassadors have won numerous state, regional, and national awards and have been featured at conventions, workshops, and festivals. The choir has been named "Grand Champion" of the Luers-Midwest Invitational Show Choir Contest six times and has been awarded the International Music Festival's Gold Medal twice. They have presented concerts at Disneyland Paris and have been the featured entertainment at conventions for the American Choral Director's Association, Music Educator's National Conference, The National Association of Secondary School Principals, The National League of Cities, and the FBI. The Ambassadors, have served as the host choir for SHOWSTOPPERS National Show Choir Competition in Chicago, Illinois seven times and as the Honors Showcase Choir at SHOWSTOPPERS competitions in both Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida and the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. Ambassadors continued their tradition of excellence in April 2000 with performances at "Cayfest" Georgetown, Grand Cayman, and aboard Holland-America's "Ms. Ryndam" cruise ship. The group performed in April 2004 at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California and served as the Honor's Choir for SHOWSTOPPERS 2004 Chicago.
In March 2007, under the direction team of Mr. Lamonte Kuskye, Mrs. Ann Conrad and choreographer Mr. Ron Morgan, the Ambassadors returned to the show choir competition circuit after a twenty-year absence, winning the Grand Champion at North Central MIC and First Place at Pike MusicFest. The Ambassor's finished the year strong with winning the Mixed Finals - State Champion at the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) competition.
In March 2008, the Carmel Ambassadors earned Grand Champion at the Midwest Showcase in Huntington Indiana. On March 15th of 2008, the group won the Mixed Finals - State Champion at the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) competition for a second consecutive year.
